Macro-economic Effects of Bt/ GM corn, 2011

The two farmers who work on Bt corn and made it successful in the Philippines market
The five indicators comparing ordinary hybrid maize vs. GM/ Bt corn were net farm income, pre-harvest labor savings for non-use of pesticide, incomes from seed and post harvest labor income all increased well due to higher yields.

Using the aggregate estimate of Dr. James Clives with 643,800 hectares planted with GM corn in 2011 as a point of reference, these five indicators had total macroeconomic effects of P17,178 million or USD 399.5 million.

The share of Bt corn was only one percent of the aggregate because Bt corn plantation declined to two percent of the total in the same area.
