Monday could be the busiest day in a week, but the media including bloggers, reporters and photographers were all excited in the recent press conference of NET25’s first “teleserye” offering going mainstream on prime time and competing with other big television networks.

“This is the first major drama series of NET 25’s Entertainment TV Division which aims to deliver more quality programs for Eagle Broadcasting Corporation and the viewing public this year,” explained Art de Guzman Jr., Eagle Broadcasting Corporation president and chief operating officer.

5 Girls and a Dad, a light family drama focusing on Filipino family values, written by award winning novelist and screenplay writer Lualhati Bautista (Bata, Bata Paano ka Ginawa?, Dekada '70) under the direction of Elson Montalbo

“We need something new, something different, something fresh. This is without violence, bad behavior, kidnapping and conflicts that you can see in all other stories. You can see all these in news every day,” Lualhati Bautista, the story writer of the drama said.

Respected character actor Richard Quan plays the lead role of Lorenzo "Enzo" Legaspi, a taxi-operator/driver. He takes care of his five daughters: Dixie Nedic (Mimay, the eldest), Kate Nizedel (Anna Lisa), Abby Quilnat (Alex), Chesca "Cruzita" Salcedo (Valerie, the child with autism).

The beauty-queen turned actress Precious Lara Quigaman plays the role of Veron, Enzo’s wife who pass away after giving birth to their fifth child, Angel.

"Mahirap palang maging tatay, lalo na sa mga anak na babae, mahirap magpalaki ng babae, mas iniingatan. As a parent, you must really inculcate good values. Communication is very important. You must also earn their trust. Enzo is not perfect, he has flaws, but he tries to be a good father," the actor said.
