This coming May, the finest talents, leadership and tourist spots of the Bicol Region would be the major highlights of the three-day “Bicol Youth Congress and Tourism Festival” at the Sorsogon State College, Sorsogon City.

The Youth Congress and Tourism Festival will convene at least 1,000 youth leaders aged 15 to 35 years old -- representing the sub-sectors In-School, Out-of–School, Working, Youth with Special Needs and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK). Including in discussion are issues and challenges confronting the sector in the next five years.

With the theme “Aquing Bicolnon: Kilos-Kabataan Labanan ang Kahirapan!”, the convention aims to formulate and address the vital concerns of the youth by providing them the proper venue in discussing concerns and issues facing them and the formulation of proposals for governmental action.

With the National Movement of Young Legislators, the Lady Local Legislators’ League of the Philippines (4L), Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), National Youth Commission, and Aquing Bicolnon, a conglomeration of Territorial and Multi-Sectoral leaders and organizations of farmers, fishermen, urban poor, formal and informal workers, transport, women, senior citizens, youth and students, and cooperatives in Bicol Region.

The Congress also includes a cultural and tourism festival, which showcases the beauty of Bicolandia’s Mount Mayon, Donsol’s Butanding and breathtaking beachfront. The festival also presents the best products and services such as food; health and beauty products; resorts; hotels; travel destinations; handicrafts; franchising products and services; herbal supplements; gadgets; juices; snacks; apparel; fashion accessories; and many more. The program will include lectures, seminars, workshops plus entertainment with show bands, celebrities, and travel tour around Sorsogon tourist spots.
