“Knowledge is power,” a buzz statement and popularized in the Philippines by no other than the late Ka Ernie Baron in Filipino form as “kung walang knowledge, walang power!”

In this era of big data, Google chief Eric Schmidt said: “There were five exabytes (a billion gigabytes) of information created between the dawn of civilization through 2003. But that much of information is now created every two days, and the pace is increasing.”

With this in mind this could mean super typhoon of data and information in every blink of an eye. Thanks to this explosion of data, Analytics become more significant worldwide. In a study, 70 percent will use data analytics by 2013.

Based on market research firm IDC, the business analytics software market expanded by 14.1 percent in 2011 and will increase at a 9.8 percent annual rate to make $50.7 billion in 2016, urged by concentrating on big data.

T
he good news is that the Philippines will come to be known as the analytics hub of the world, servicing other countries in an industry estimated to be worth $12.2 billion in a year, as announced by Interaksyon.com.

Philippines exceeded India as the world’s top outsourcing destination, and as the country’s outsourcing industry goes up on the higher level of outsourcing value chain and into KPO, the challenge for highly-specialized “non-voice” skills in the industry are also escalating.

The big, small and medium companies and even government and other institutions have their internal data, however, they also have to deal with related external data, coming from social media, blogs, video sites, image and the like. They need to extract what is being said about them in these spaces, organize the data flood, create insights, craft forecast, and formulate recommendations for action.

This great demand of analysts will also need training.  Moreover, this will definitely give employment boost in the Philippines as it will provide analysts worldwide via BPO/KPO industry.
